Congressman Gibbs Earns Award from Seniors for Stance on Tax Reform

Rep. Gibbs fighting to ease the economic uncertainty hurting America’s elderly.

(Mansfield, OH) – The non-partisan 60 Plus Association, representing more than 7.2 million seniors nationally, presented its Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award today to Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-OH) for his ongoing leadership for Ohio seniors and his vocal leadership on the need for tax reform to create jobs and strengthen our economy.

“Congressman Gibbs has worked every day to put Ohio families first, including his support for meaningful tax reform,” said 60 Plus Association Ohio Director Dwight Crum. “The time has come for a modern, fair, pro-growth tax code to improve America’s competitiveness.”

The challenge of economic uncertainty caused by America’s outdated tax policies grows with each passing day.

“Our seniors have worked hard to create and preserve the America we know today,” added Crum. “The task before us is to continue that legacy by ensuring our nation is one of hope and opportunity for generations to come.”

“I want to thank the 60 Plus Association,” Gibbs said, “for their advocacy to protect our seniors and their efforts to protect Social Security for current and future retirees, ending the death tax, shrinking the size of government, lowering taxes and strengthening our free enterprise system. 60 Plus works diligently for a stronger America and the protection of our freedoms and values.”

It’s been nearly three decades since our tax code has been substantially overhauled. The time for reform is now,” Crum said. “We thank Congressman Gibbs for his work for seniors and hope his colleagues in Washington will follow his lead and work on substantive tax reform this year.”
