60 Plus Founder Cheers Trump Visit to North Dakota

Jim Martin Calls President Trump’s Support For Abolishing the Death Tax ‘Pitch Perfect’

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (September 6, 2017) — 60 Plus Association Founder and Chairman Jim Martin today released the following statement following President Trump’s remarks in North Dakota Wednesday:

“President Donald Trump gets it. He understands that family ranches, farms and small businesses are suffering under the “tremendous burden,” of the Death Tax. His remarks Wednesday illustrating how the Death Tax hurts family ranches in North Dakota were pitch perfect.

The Death Tax burden on North Dakota ranchers that President Trump addressed Wednesday are identical to those borne by many rural families, including peanut farmers in southwest Georgia, which is represented by Rep. Sanford Bishop, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Rep. Bishop is the most vocal Democrat in Congress supporting abolition of the Death Tax and we hope his enthusiasm will be shared by more within his party.

President Trump is listening to ordinary Americans and responding to their needs. He understands that many rural families have assets tied up in tracts of land that have been in the same family for generations, and that they should not be punished because of a death in the family.

Passing along family ranches, farms and small businesses to future generations ensures continued economic growth, promotes the creation of jobs, and keeps much needed capital flowing through our economy. We look forward to working with the President and the Congress to finally abolish the Death Tax once and for all.”
