60 Plus Statement in Support of House Reconciliation

“This Reconciliation Bill will cripple Obamacare the way Obamacare has crippled the healthcare of seniors and their families.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) — The non-partisan 60 Plus Association, America’s largest free-market seniors advocacy organization, with over 7.2 million supporters, today stood in strong support of the House passage of H.R. 3762, “Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015,” which outright eliminates major components of Obamacare, while cutting taxes, cutting deficit spending, and ending taxpayer subsidies to Planned Parenthood.

Said 60 Plus Vice-President Matthew Kandrach, “Obamacare was passed on the backs of seniors, with over $700 billion in cuts to Medicare. The House reconciliation bill represents a major dismantling of Obamacare through the elimination of some of its most costly and harmful components. This Reconciliation Bill will cripple Obamacare the way Obamacare has crippled the healthcare of seniors and their families.”

Among the targets of the Reconciliation Bill are the medical devices tax, the individual and employer mandates, the premium tax on higher-end health plans, and billions wasted as part of the Prevention and Public Health ‘slush fund.

“While full and complete repeal is the ultimate goal,” continued Kandrach, “this Reconciliation Bill provides major relief to seniors and all Americans suffering under Obamacare’s high costs, limited choices, and stifling taxes. It is a major boost to employers and entrepreneurs who are now coerced into supporting this failed scheme, and puts money back in our pockets while cutting the deficit. Its passage is an unmistakable sign that Obamacare’s days are numbered, and that true, patient and doctor centered healthcare reform is around the corner.”
