Statement by 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin on the AARP Profit Grab

Reports today indicate that AARP executives are meeting with Democrat leaders today about health care reform. It’s distressing to 60 Plus and our 5.5 million supporters that Democrats continue to favor AARP, and their insurance plan which netted the company almost $500 million in 2008 and still allows them to discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions.

Not only should AARP be ashamed of being more focused on the bottom line than helping seniors, Democrat leaders should be ashamed of the sweetheart deals they’ve had to cut.

“You can now add the AARP Greedy Profit Grab to the likes of the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, and Gator Aid.”
