Jim Martin: “Obama’s agenda is for the federal government to be everybody’s doctor.”
(Alexandria, Virginia) – A new report released this afternoon by the House Ways and Means Committee states that the nation’s largest 71 employers stand to save hundreds of billions of dollars by dropping health care coverage for their employees and instead pay a $2,000 penalty per employee under the Obamacare employer mandate. The result would threaten the private health insurance of 10.2 million U.S. workers and send the cost of the health care law, already over $1 trillion, to stratospheric levels.
Said 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, “Once again, we realize yet another outright lie of Obamacare, that those who wanted to keep their health plans could do so. Now we see startling proof that one of the major objectives of the government-run health care blueprint is to destroy private health insurance and make everyone dependent on the government. There is no other way to explain a health care law that actually gives windfall profits to companies to dump people from coverage.
“Because of Obamacare, employee health insurance costs are increasing faster. When you couple that fact with the hundreds of millions of dollars these large companies could save by dumping employees from their health care plans, the incentive is going to be too great to allow workers to keep their coverage. And those companies that attempt to keep their health plans will be at a competitive disadvantage, meaning it will only be a matter of time before everyone loses their coverage.
“Americans were told that government-run health care reform was necessary to help the uninsured, so what business does the Obama have for paying companies to dump the insured and force them into government exchanges? The federal government is out of control and every American should be extremely alarmed by this news. We see how well the federal government runs the post office, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, sadly this will soon be our doctor’s office.
“Welcome to Uncle Sam, M.D., your new primary care physician. The very thought boils my blood and gives me chills. Obama is making even getting sick a luxury none of us will be able to afford.”
