There is no doubt the 2016 election cycle has been one of the most unpredictable. Florida has its own wild races from the U.S. Senate on down the ticket. Today, we want to bring your attention to Amendment 1 on the 2016 November election and ask that you join us in support for this important amendment.
60 Plus joined a broad coalition of supporters to help support this ballot initiative in July 2015 and were pleased that voters chose to lend enough support to have it go a statewide vote in November.
Three reasons why this amendment is so important:
- Protect your pocketbook! Alternative energy solutions, like solar, are fine for those who can afford and choose to use it. However, those who continue using traditional energy should not face higher costs due to their neighbors choices. Amendment 1 promotes fairness. You pay for your own choice.
- Solar leasing fraud is rampant in states without consumer protections in place Amendment 1 puts valuable safeguards in place to prevent those seeking to take advantage of vulnerable seniors.
- Accountability matters. Amendment 1 provides that the appropriate regulators most acquainted with solar are able to monitor the industry. It also allows for local regulations to serve individual communities.
