60 Plus Association Bus Tour Visits Syracuse
Jim Martin, “AARP credibility has crashed, they have no one left to betray.”
(Syracuse, New York) – In the wake of the Supreme Court decision on President Obama’s health care overhaul, the AARP has once again been exposed for betraying seniors by ignoring their members when it mattered most, and conspiring in the back rooms of the White House and DCCC to push the bill, a healthcare overhaul that promises to add hundreds of millions of dollars to their bottom line, according to 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors advocacy organization.
The 60 Plus Association’s bus tour visited Syracuse today on its first stop in New York. Chairman Martin said, “Now AARP says they are on a listening tour. What a joke, that ship sailed two years ago. 60 Plus is actually on a real listening tour with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and now New York and continuing to Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and eventually ending back in Florida. Seniors are showing up in droves and thanking us for doing what AARP failed to do. Seniors need a real friend and voice. AARP betrayed them when the chips were down. Their windfall profits they stand to reap from this sad event will never be enough to wash the stain of shame from their tarnished reputation.
“The AARP legacy will forever be one of betrayal for profit. For months the AARP was publicly saying during the healthcare debate that they were neutral, but in fact we know now that they were working hand in hand with Democratic operatives in the White House and DCCC to help pass the bill. The Affordable Care Act is neither affordable nor do people much care for it.”
“The sad and ugly truth is that the AARP sold out seniors for the almighty dollar. They stand to gain hundreds of millions of dollars from the health care law, and when their members called to say ‘NO’ to Obamacare by a ratio of 14 to 1, they ignored them and conspired with the White House to change the message.”
“When people look back and ask ‘who was responsible?’ for this whole healthcare mess, they can start with the AARP, who could have used their considerable clout to help change the bill or stop it. Instead they gave political cover to the White House so they could line their pockets. This is absolutely disgraceful, bordering on the criminal, and should be investigated.
