Launches Magazine, Senior Voice
Arlington, VA — 60 Plus Association founder and president, Jim Martin, turns 70 years young today.
Martin said, “A wise man once said old is someone 15 years older than you are. How true. When I was 30, I thought 45 was old. When I was 45, I thought 60 was old. Now I believe 85 is old, or rather, never old, just old-er.”
Martin began the 60 Plus Association 14 years ago and has been at the helm ever since, taking on the serious matters of death tax repeal, saving Social Security by reforming it, working to lower energy costs for seniors on fixed incomes and other initiatives that will lead to senior-friendly legislation.
But in marking his 70th birthday, Martin said more than the job or the career path, “I’m blessed with family that loves me, close friends and associates that make the years slip by easily and good health. You can’t ask for much more than that.”
Martin continued, “I realize when I was born, the Washington Redskins were still in Boston, the Duesenberg, the Cord and the Pierce Arrow were hot automobiles and Carole Lombard was lighting up the silver screen in “My Man Godfrey.” So I know I’ve been around the bend a few times and thankful to be able to go around a few times more! As a matter of fact, I’m still at the point where there aren’t enough hours in the day for all that I want to accomplish. For example, we’re launching a new magazine this month, Senior Voice. What better to do as I turn 70? I view it as a birthday present dedicated to America’s seniors, keeping them apprised of issues that affect their pocketbooks and their health.”
