Democrats Determined to Pipeline Jobs and Energy Out of the U.S.

Jim Martin, “Getting Democrats to support jobs and lower energy costs is a pipe dream.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid (NV) has vowed to stonewall a bill passed by the House Tuesday that would extend the payroll tax cut to millions of Americans, and also fast-track the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf region in Texas.

Without approval of the pipeline — a decision the President has postponed until after the 2012 elections in order to appease the extreme environmentalist lobby — Canadians are expected to instead sell the oil to China, a development which prompted a response from 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors advocacy organization.

“This decision, in a nut-shell, explains why Obama and the Democrats have condemned Americans to the worst economy since the Great Depression,” said Martin. “With millions out of work, and every American paying outrageous energy costs, the Democrats would rather play politics and reject a simple proposal to put thousands of Americans to work, and lower energy costs for our families.

“When given a choice of siding with Americans who need jobs, and seniors and working families who need relief from the costs of heating their homes and fueling their cars, Obama and Harry Reid will side every time with their friends on the far left, who oppose every measure to expand our nation’s supply of oil, coal and natural gas.

“Building the pipeline will create thousands of good jobs, and even has the support of the national labor unions. Despite all their rhetoric, the Democrats have once again proven to Americans that their ability to fix our economy and put Americans back to work is nothing more than a pipedream.”
