60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin: “Pelosi is the expert on slashing Medicare, which is why she is now Minority Leader Pelosi.

(Alexandria, Virginia) – 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the most prominent conservative seniors advocacy group in the nation, today blasted back at Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for the false and inflammatory statement that if Speaker John Boehner’s debt-limit plan were to become law, “You can kiss Medicare goodbye.”

“How absolutely outrageous for the woman who led the fight like a left-wing Joan of Arc in slashing $500 billion from Medicare in the last Congress to push through government-run ObamaCare is now accusing Republicans of aiding the destruction of Medicare.

“Pelosi is the expert at slashing Medicare, and also an expert at kissing things goodbye — for example 60 plus Democrat members of her caucus who lost their seats because of her ideological rampage to pay for ObamaCare by slashing over a half trillion dollars from seniors’ health care.

“Boehner’s plan, though far from perfect, does nothing to offend Medicare that comes even close to the chainsaw facelift the Democrats performed on Medicare when Pelosi sat in the Speaker’s chair.  The days are long gone when Democrats get a free pass for scaring senior citizens with false and insulting statements like this, and if she keeps it up, she can count on her caucus shrinking even more in 2012.

“Does the Democrat cloak-room have any mirrors on the walls?  Nancy, time to take a good hard look and see who is killing Medicare.”
