Lawmakers call for investigation into J6 committee following release of security footage
Republican lawmakers are calling for investigations into a House committee and its members after the release of security footage that captured the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas and Sen. Mike Lee of Utah called for the investigation of the now-defunct United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, which determined that the riot was an attempted coup by then-President Trump. They said the tapes present a much different view of the chaos at the Capitol that day.
“The J6 committee was a sham,” Mr. Nehls said on X. “I knew it then. Everyone knows it now. Let’s investigate the investigators.”
The calls for an investigation of the Democratic-led committee began after House Speaker Mike Johnson announced the planned release of more than 40,000 hours of security video footage from the Capitol that day. The footage will be released in batches over the next several months.
The first round of about 90 hours of footage was released Friday on the website of the House Administration Committee, which reviewed the tapes and authorized their release.
“This decision will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials,” said Mr. Johnson, Louisiana Republican.
Mr. Trump used social media to laud the speaker’s “courage and fortitude” in making the security video public. He said the tapes “will explicitly reveal what really happened on January 6th.”

You can see it with your own eyes. But Democrats and their left-wing media allies call it a “fantasy.” What is it?
Election fraud.
A Lawrence, Massachusetts voter who had been turned away from the polls on Election Day and told he had already voted found out he was the victim of fraud. He checked the footage on the video camera outside his front door and saw that a woman had removed mail-in ballots from his mailbox. He called police.
It’s happening in many places. On Tuesday, Fight Voter Fraud, Inc., a nonprofit voter rights group, appeared in Connecticut Superior Court to demand the arrest of a woman alleged to have been caught on video committing mail-in ballot fraud in the 2019 Bridgeport Democratic mayoral primary and again in the 2023 primary. The group, protesting that city officials pretend there’s no problem, also called on the Connecticut legislature to appoint a special prosecutor.
A staggering 60% of likely voters nationwide consider election cheating a problem, according to Rasmussen Reports. Yet the Left denies it’s happening.
The Washington Post calls it a “myth” and a “fantasy offense.”
Worst of all, the federal government is suppressing the evidence and censoring anyone who complains about election cheating.
Never-before-seen emails released by the House Judiciary Committee on Nov. 6 reveal that a government-sponsored task force is muzzling public figures, thousands of ordinary Americans, and media outlets like Newsmax and The Babylon Bee when they report election irregularities.
The emails show that officials within the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department — the deep state — organized the Election Integrity Partnership in 2020, recruiting academics at Stanford University and the University of Washington to question election honesty and then instruct social media companies such as Google, Facebook and YouTube to label the postings as “misinformation” or take them down entirely.
Dem-Aligned Dark Money Network Spent Almost $1 Billion On Liberal Causes In 2022
A major left-wing dark money network raised more than $1 billion in 2022 and funneled millions into liberal causes across the country, recently published tax documents reveal.
Arabella Advisors, a for-profit venture run by Clinton administration veteran Eric Kessler, manages five left-wing nonprofits: the Sixteen Thirty Fund, the New Venture Fund, the Windward Fund, the Hopewell Fund and the North Fund. Arabella’s network raked in $1.3 billion in revenue during 2022, and provided financial support to things like climate lawsuits, pro-abortion initiatives and election-related organizations. Arabella’s network was deeply involved in the 2022 midterm elections.
Nonprofits managed by Arabella Advisors dumped more than $62 million into get-out-the-vote initiatives, voter registration drives and other voter mobilization efforts in 2022. While groups pushing these efforts often brand themselves as nonpartisan, some critics see them as carrying water for Democrats.

Presidential debates set for Texas, Virginia and Utah as RFK Jr. looks to be first independent on stage in 3 decades
For the first time in more than three decades, an independent presidential candidate may take part in a general election debate.
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced the schedule and prerequisites for the 2024 cycle Monday, with three presidential debates set for:
Sept. 16, 2024, at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas
Oct. 1, 2024, at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va.
Oct. 9, 2024, at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City
A single vice presidential debate is slated for Sept. 25, 2024, at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
To qualify for the debate stage, candidates for president and vice president must have achieved at least 15% in national polling.
With under 10 months to go until the first debate, environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine advocate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is averaging 16.7% in the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate.
Hemingway: If Republicans Don’t Properly Explain The Dobbs Abortion Ruling, They Can Expect Continued Losses
The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway said Republicans need to go on the offense and properly explain the Supreme Court decision on abortion to voters as well as attack the Democratic position as extreme.
“There is an issue here for the Republican party,” Hemingway said on Friday. “They keep thinking that the fact that people don’t like Democrat policies will be sufficient for them to have electoral gains. That’s not actually true. They need to present a vision. They need to get things done with whatever limited power they have in Washington, D.C. And they absolutely need to make the case on abortion, to explain that what the Dobbs ruling did was allow states to make their own policies on abortion to return it to the people so they can decide. And that pointing out how Democrats, across the board, are very extreme on this. Very outside of where the American public is, where they would like some protections for unborn children and their mothers. And that Democrats in Congress and in the Senate have voted for no protections of that kind. They need to say it. And, if they don’t say it, they can expect to have continued losses like they have had.”
California voters ‘duped’ by reform plan that sparked shoplifting crisis: sheriff

Rampant shoplifting in California’s capital has surpassed “crisis level,” according to the outspoken sheriff of Sacramento County.
“It is way beyond crisis level,” Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview Thursday about shoplifting.
Cooper took the internet by storm earlier this month when he said in an X post that Target leaders prevented deputies from thwarting shoplifting incidents despite the store requesting help to stymie rampant retail crime.
Cooper said his office recently worked with the massive retailer to carry out a shoplifting operation, but the plan apparently crumbled when Target leaders made a list of rules for where and how deputies and detectives could arrest the suspects.
MAGA-dominated state Republican parties plagued by infighting, money woes
Nonpartisan” Supreme Court watchdogs demanding conservative justices disclose more about their finances hauled in millions of dollars combined in 2022 from the largest Democratic-allied dark money network in the United States, according to tax forms.
The cash transfers, which became public on Wednesday upon the release of new financial disclosures, underscore how groups leading a campaign targeting Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito over trips and gifts they accepted, but did not report, rely on influential left-wing grantmakers to help keep their lights on. Several of these self-described watchdogs took heaps of cash from nonprofit organizations managed by Arabella Advisors, a consulting firm overseeing an anonymously funded network that spent over $1 billion last year propping up liberal causes.
Washington, D.C., Attorney General Brian Schwalb, a Democrat, is investigating Arabella Advisors and its offshoots, including New Venture Fund and Sixteen Thirty Fund, and his office issued subpoenas to the network in September for information on financial mismanagement allegations. The consultancy also manages Hopewell Fund, North Fund, and Windward Fund, which, like others in the network, sponsor little-known groups that aren’t required to file their own tax forms with the IRS.
“Arabella Advisors and the dark money groups it advises specialize in cultivating pop-up front groups to make their extreme agenda sound locally-run or nonpartisan,” Carrie Severino, president of the conservative Judicial Crisis Network, told the Washington Examiner. “It’s no surprise they’re behind the campaign to discredit originalist justices.”
Which Journalists Are the ‘Professionals’? Just the Liberals?
Washington Post media reporter Paul Farhi is the most recent example of a journalist who sounds like his own colleagues are the “professionals” and the writers without the classic Old Media branding are the “non-pros,” people who don’t have standards.
Farhi began by tweeting: “Someone invented the phrase ‘citizen journalism’ a few years ago to describe amateurs doing the work of pros. Yes, it occasionally works, but probably no more often than “’citizen cop,’ ‘citizen attorney’ or ‘citizen soldier.’”
This quickly became a Twitter beach ball for conservatives. In response to one reply, he qualified it a little: “I’d never argue that professional journalists are flawless. They’re not, of course. But they do *try* to adhere to a set of standards. Non-pros are under no such obligation, and frequently don’t bother.”
Mollie Hemingway at The Federalist pulled out the big “Ahem” on this notion: the latest Gallup poll illustrates that almost 40 percent have zero trust in the fairness and accuracy of “professional journalists.”
Why You Should Read 1984 (Again)
Despite being published in 1949 at the tail end of World War II, I think George Orwell’s fictional novel, 1984, is still as relevant today as it was back then.
The book is set in the fictional state of Oceania, where a dystopian future has taken over the reins of society. The leader of the nation, Big Brother, keeps a constant eye on citizens, making sure that they think, act, and speak precisely how they should further the aims of the rulers.
Governed by the Party, the people of Oceania have no form of freedom, not in the way they think, the way they speak, or in what they do.
I believe (and I am not the only one) in the current state of our society, with data collection and the monitoring of all online activities, we’re not too far off from the problems facing those in the work of fiction. However, there may be hope in the power of Bitcoin as a means to create our version of freedom.
THE POWER OF TOTALITARIANISM
Totalitarianism is a political regime governed entirely by the state, with no input from citizens other than to be quiet and obey. According to the Party, the governing system in place in the novel, individuals need to be controlled and constantly monitored in order to make sure they are fulfilling their roles at the hands of the Party.
In other words, every decision, no matter how small or inconsequential, by those in the working class is to be made by what the Party wishes to achieve. In the novel, one of these ideals is to create a world where individualism does not have a role, and anyone who transgresses or disobeys this ideal is subject to elimination – quite literally.
