Rekindles the Promise of America’s Greatness

“As President, Mitt Romney will not fail the American people, or fail the mission before him.”

(Tampa, Florida) – 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.2 million senior supporters, issued the following statement regarding Governor Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention:

“Governor Romney gave a powerful and stirring speech Thursday night that reminded all of us that the promise of America is alive and well, if we are bold enough to embrace the concept that our destiny and our greatness are determined by us, the people, and not by government.

“Just like Ronald Reagan did three decades ago, when he pronounced that government is not the solution, but the problem, Mitt Romney expertly framed the issue at hand, offering powerful words to inspire Americans to look inward to their own strengths and talents as the engine of change for a better and more prosperous nation.  He is absolutely right in stating that we don’t have to accept disappointment, division and despair.
