New Year’s Revolution: Repeal and Replace Obamacare

60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, “November can’t get here fast enough!”

(Alexandria, Virginia) — As Americans congratulate one another on the promise of the New Year, old business remains on the agenda for a majority, namely dumping Obamacare and fighting for the restoration of their previous insurance plans and healthcare rights.  Americans are still reeling from last year’s implementation of the healthcare law, yet in 2014 the stage is set for even bigger sucker punches as the law’s various rules, restrictions, skyrocketing costs and tax hikes explode into full effect.

An overwhelming and growing majority of Americans now believe fixing healthcare is the top priority heading into the midterm elections of 2014, and they want Obamacare repealed outright or significantly changed to protect the medical services and freedoms they once enjoyed.

The burgeoning tidal wave of opposition to Obamacare brought a strong comment from 60 Plus Association Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.5 million supporters, and the acknowledged alternative to the liberal AARP:

“Obamacare has been nothing short of scorched-earth across the landscape, and Americans are waking up to the reality that the President sold this healthcare law with his fingers crossed behind his back.  Obama told us spending $1.8 trillion to implement his healthcare reform would solve everything, that costs would go down, and that ‘if we liked our doctor we could keep our doctor – period.’

“The disaster and devastation it has caused in our lives is real, and just as real is the revolt against Obamacare being joined by a majority of Americans who won’t rest until we pull the plug on this horrendous law and hold those who peddled this lie accountable at the ballot box.”

Recent polling data and figures from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) backing up Martin’s claims include:

  • 50% want Washington to fully repeal Obamacare
  • 31% additional want Washington to make significant changes
  • 6 million plus people have seen the cancellation of their healthcare coverage
  • $3,671 is the average family of four’s increase in healthcare premiums due to the law
  • $16,351 is the annual tab for this same family’s insurance payments
  • 63% say the country is headed in the wrong direction

“Americans are going broke, losing their coverage, being denied care and watching helplessly as their long-time physicians are closing the door in their faces.  What we now have on our hands is a true healthcare crisis worse than anything the nation has even seen, courtesy of Mr. Obama and his friends on Capitol Hill and at the AARP.  November can’t come fast enough.”
