Obamacare Fail Continues: Costs Up, Coverage Down

New CBO report and survey show more will lose coverage, as families pay more.

(Alexandria, Virginia) – A new report issued by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) states that projected costs of the President’s healthcare overhaul are higher than previously calculated, while millions more Americans are at risk of losing their health insurance entirely, developments completely at odds with what President Obama promised when pushing the legislation two years ago.

New CBO figures released since the Supreme Court ruling on June 28th indicate that costs for health insurance for families will continue to rise by an additional $300 per family, on top of the $2,100 increase already caused by the legislation.  Further, a new survey released by the consulting company Deloitte says that nearly 10% of businesses will drop health coverage in the next one to three years for their employees, and a shocking 33% would consider doing so if the healthcare law imposes higher costs on them, which it almost certainly will do.

This news brought a strong rebuke from 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.2 million senior supporters:

“Here we go again, another update from the CBO on the effects of Obamacare, and as sure as the sun coming up in the morning, we get more bad news.  All of the Obamacare opponents warned Washington that this law would cause nothing but additional pain and suffering to a nation that has already had more than its share because of the policies of the Obama Administration.  The American people and seniors especially are fighting mightily to survive in this current economic climate, and at every turn Obamacare knocks them back onto the canvas.  It’s a great travesty.

“The President promised this law would increase coverage and save families money, and it is doing the exact opposite, causing harm and upheaval like a tornado tearing across the landscape.  We can’t afford another 10 minutes let alone 10 years of Obamacare.  The CBO report is another shovel of dirt on a mountain of reasons why Obamacare must be repealed and repealed now.”
