(Alexandria, Virginia) – With Congressional hearings each month uncovering more and more the extent to which Obamacare is being funded with raids on Medicare, Florida Governor Rick Scott has earned the support and appreciation of seniors everywhere by confronting President Obama to end the Medicare raids.  Said Governor Scott:

“President Obama said he wants to use his pen and his phone this year so I brought three issues to him that are important to Florida families.  First, if the President cares about our seniors he needs to fix Obamacare immediately. We learned last week that Medicare is being raided to pay for Obamacare which is hurting our seniors who could lose access to the doctors they liked and were told they could keep. We need to give our seniors a voice and ask the President directly to not pay for Obamacare by raiding Medicare. He has stopped and delayed other broken parts of the healthcare law. He should do the same with this.”

Governor Scott’s commitment and courage to defending Medicare was lauded by 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization and the acknowledged alternative to the liberal AARP.

Said Martin, “Ever since Secretary Sebelius was caught double-counting Medicare savings, seniors have borne witness to the continued crime of this Administration of pillaging Medicare to fund Obamacare on the backs of seniors.

“Recent estimates show more than $1 trillion has been taken from Medicare to pay for Obama’s disastrous healthcare law, more than $700 billion from the Medicare Trust Fund, and an additional $300 billion from Medicare Advantage.  Democrats can no longer deny that they have signed the death warrant for Medicare as we know it, and Governor Scott has earned the gratitude of seniors everywhere for his principled stand to defend this critical healthcare program for the elderly.

“It’s time that Obama and the Democrats stop playing politics with Medicare, and stop the mounting tragedies of seniors learning that they are losing their doctors and losing their healthcare coverage because Obamacare has robbed them of the medical care they worked so hard for and earned.  Governor Scott is a true hero to seniors everywhere, and unless the President heeds his words and changes course, seniors will take matters into our own hands come this November at the ballot box.”
