Top Democrat Admits Obamacare Heading Off the Rails

Jim Martin: “Finally Sen. Max Baucus admits something seniors knew even before passage of Obamacare in 2009. Seniors were against it and still are. This bears out their premonitions.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – 60 Plus Association Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the acknowledged conservative alternative to the liberal AARP and home to 7.2 million senior citizen activists, today issued a statement agreeing with powerful Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) that implementing Obamacare will be “a train wreck.”

At a hearing Wednesday on Capitol Hill, Baucus told Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, “I just see a huge train wreck coming down.  You and I have discussed this many times, and I don’t see any results yet.”  Baucus’ comments come a week after another prominent Obamacare supporter, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) backtracked on the law’s chances of success by admitting, “it is just beyond comprehension.”

Said Martin, “Obamacare has from the start been an unworkable liberal pipe dream that healthcare can be run — and run better — by far-left politicians and an army of bureaucrats in Washington.  Well, it’s time we finally saw a Democrat proponent of Obamacare admit what millions of Americans knew from the get-go, and why the law has been overwhelmingly opposed by seniors — Obamacare will make healthcare in America much worse.  ‘Train wreck’ doesn’t even begin to cover what a total disaster this legislation will be.

“President Obama has a better chance of sinking a jump shot in the wind than Obamacare does of fulfilling any of the promises he made when pushing to pass it.  This law remains a bureaucrat’s Disney World, a 2,000 page anvil around the neck of every American.  When someone needs over 2,000 pages to explain anything it is by definition going to be a train wreck.

“Senator Baucus is hearing from seniors back in Montana now that he’s running for re-election that they still don’t care much for this law.  He should remember that seniors were the demographic that voted most strongly against Obama, almost entirely due to Obamacare.

“Senators Baucus and Rockefeller — you get a round of applause from seniors for your candor, but we still hold you accountable for your lack of judgment and your initial dishonesty in pushing this law down our throats.  Have the integrity to back up your words and support the immediate repeal of the law that you finally acknowledge is going to make America worse off, and seniors especially more sick in the end.”
