60 Plus: Union Bosses Want Republican Help While Funding the Other Side

Alexandria, VA – The 60 Plus Association today raised concerns about organized labor’s continued political opposition to President Trump and Republican candidates despite ongoing efforts by some union leaders to win Republican support for the Faster Labor Contracts Act (FLCA).

A new issue brief from Americans for Limited Government (ALG), “Union Bosses Turn on MAGA”, documents how labor unions have filed more than 70 lawsuits against the Trump administration, directed the overwhelming majority of their political contributions to Democrats, and funded redistricting efforts designed to benefit Democratic candidates.

The brief also highlights a sharp imbalance in union political giving. The top 10 unions gave more than $22 million to Democrats during the 2024 election cycle, compared to less than $1.4 million to Republicans.

“Union leaders are asking Republicans for support while spending workers’ dues to help elect Democrats and fight President Trump’s agenda,” said Saul Anuzis, President of 60 Plus. “Working Americans should understand exactly where that money is going and who is benefiting from it.”

60 Plus said the findings raise important questions as Congress considers legislation that would expand organized labor’s influence and authority.

“Seniors and working families are tired of being told one thing and watching something completely different happen in Washington,” Anuzis continued. “Before Congress gives union leadership more power through the Faster Labor Contracts Act, lawmakers should ask why unions are spending so much time and money fighting President Trump and helping Democrats.”

The group said policymakers should prioritize transparency, accountability, and policies that put workers and taxpayers ahead of special interests.
