Alexandria, VA – Hold onto the hand railing. Tuesday will see a seismic shift in the direction of our nation, the likes of which we’ve rarely seen in the past and may not ever see again.
And it couldn’t come a moment too soon.
From the second President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid took up arms against seniors and against the financial well-being of our nation with their reckless spending, the date “November 2nd, 2010” has been circled in big red marker here at the 60 Plus Association.
At first we spoke out, pleading with the Administration and our elected representatives NOT to gut Medicare and NOT bury the generations to come in an avalanche of debt to our foreign creditors.
We gave them a chance, and in return they gave us the worst response possible; no response at all. Joining the liberal majority in this walk down the aisle was the leviathan AARP (the Association Against Retired Persons), whose advocacy on behalf of seniors ended long ago when they were co-opted by billions in federal government tax dollars.
Mounted against these Goliaths, we took matters into our own hands. We took to our email boxes, the airwaves, the town halls, to educate voters and warn them of the dire consequences of Uncle Sam, M.D. in charge of their healthcare, and by extension, their very life.
The past 90 days have taken me on a journey through over a dozen states, to ground-zero Congressional races where real Americans will take back their country and begin the process of righting our ship of state from the liberal icebergs.
Joining with grassroots groups as SpendingRevolt.com, Citizens Against Government Waste, Concerned Women for America and Americans for Prosperity, I’ve had the privilege of seeing where the true heart of this nation has and will forever still beat; in the hopes and dreams of everyday Americans who truly cherish their God-given liberty.
And now just days before a historic election, the handiwork of so many will finally come to fruition, and bring a new glow to our national portrait. The tides have swirled slowly and steadily, and built to a tsunami of a crescendo at the voting booth.
This is exactly as it should be. While being attacked by talking heads on CNN or Keith Olbermann on MSNBC for the activities of the 60 Plus Association in taking back our country, I’ve held my smile back, knowing that this day would come, and that the American people – not the smirking know-it-alls in Washington, would have the final say.
The liberal media was furious that the millions 60 Plus contributed toward television ads in dozens of key Congressional races would be so devastating and put so many liberal members of Congress on the “do not resuscitate” list.
That was money well spent, an investment in our nation’s and our children’s future. And because of the contributions of so many, and the combined volume of our voices, on Tuesday you will see “60 Plus” liberal members of Congress sent to an early retirement.
Maybe next time, when America’s seniors and families talk, Congress will actually listen.
