“Tim Tebow throws fear of God into atheists,” says 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, unveiling group’s newest bumper sticker in support of QB.

(Alexandria, Virginia) – The 60 Plus Association today announced the release of its latest bumper sticker, “Atheists PRAY Tebow Fails,” a response to the backlash against the success of the Denver Broncos quarterback from atheist and liberal corners.

“I felt this bumper sticker was necessary, because as a conservative, a Christian, and a football fan, I became dismayed at the unprecedented criticism aimed at a successful professional athlete whose behavior is nothing but exemplary, and who represents the very best in sportsmanship,” said 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin. “It also doesn’t hurt that I am a proud Gator.”

Like Tebow, Martin is a graduate of the University of Florida.  Martin completed his studies at Florida in 1962, earning a B.A. in journalism and also receiving the William Randolph Hearst award for excellence in writing.  Martin covered Congress (1962-64), including the tragic assassination in 1963 of President John F. Kennedy, and is a veteran of numerous news bureau outlets throughout the South, including the Tampa Tribune, Florida Times Union (Jacksonville), Columbia (SC) State, Augusta (GA) Chronicle, WFLA-TA (Tampa), WGBS (Miami), WDBO (Orlando) and 30 other papers.

“This bumper sticker is for sports fans and patriotic Americans everywhere to express our view that an athlete should not be criticized and smeared for expressing his faith.  In an age when it is all too common to see sports figures and celebrities of all stripes earn publicity for the very worst behavior, Tim Tebow is an honest and refreshing breath of fresh air that should be celebrated, not ridiculed.”

The 60 Plus Association is no stranger to debates against the atheist crowd.  Its national spokesperson, legendary entertainer Pat Boone, has debated noted atheist and author William Newdow on several occasions on national news outlets.

“I’m not exactly sure what football team Pat Boone roots for, but I know that he is a Tebow fan, and will proudly display our new bumper sticker at every opportunity,” said Martin.
