“We are honored to recognize leaders like Congressman Stivers, who are working to make a difference.”
(Columbus, OH) – The non-partisan 60 Plus Association, representing more than 7.2 million seniors nationally, has presented its Guardian of Seniors’ Rights award to Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH) for his voting positions in support of seniors, including his stance as a vocal leader on the need for tax reform to create jobs and stimulate the economy.
“Congressman Stivers has been a strong voice for Ohio and has demonstrated his commitment to meaningful reform of our nation’s woefully outdated tax code,” said 60 Plus Association Ohio Director Dwight Crum.
Crum said the challenges of economic uncertainty caused by America’s outdated tax polices grow more daunting each day.
“America’s seniors worked hard to create and preserve the nation we know today,” Crum said. “We must honor that legacy by ensuring our nation is one of hope and opportunity for generations to come. And part of that responsibility is to bring our tax code into the 21st Century.”
“Tax reform is long overdue and it will continue to be a priority for me in Congress,” Stivers said. “All Americans, especially seniors living on fixed income, need the certainty and stability of a fair, pro-growth tax code.”
Crum said it’s been nearly three decades since America’s tax code has been substantively overhauled, but thanks to leaders like Congressman Stivers, there is hope meaningful reform can be achieved.
“We are honored to recognize leaders like Congressman Stivers, who are working to make a difference,” Crum said. “We hope more of his colleagues in Washington will follow his lead and work to achieve substantive tax reform this year.”
