Southern Poverty Law Center donors include George Soros, JPMorgan, George Clooney — as nonprofit ‘funneled’ millions to hate groups
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has been funded by big name businesses and philanthropists including George Soros, JPMorgan, ex-Apple CEO Tim Cook and George Clooney.
The group — indicted Tuesday for allegedly funneling millions to the hate groups it says it is ideologically against — also holds over $786 million in assets, yet still solicits donations.
In fact, it took in $106 million in donated cash 2024, according to its latest available financial disclosures, yet still ran “urgent” appeals for “emergency” cash.
Over the years, donations have been made by big name donors, many of whom pledged to the organization after clashes at a 2017 by “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally in Virginia, which resulted in the death of one protester.
That year, George Clooney’s foundation donated $1 million, and longtime donor JPMorgan gave an additional $500,000 for “disaster relief,” records show.
Leftist Group That Falsely Branded Conservatives As ‘Extremists’ Could Face Criminal Charges
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) says the Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into the organization and that it could face federal criminal charges over its use of paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups.
The SPLC announced the investigation in a public statement, noting that the DOJ “is preparing to bring criminal charges against the SPLC or some of its staff.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center says it’s the subject of a criminal investigation by the Justice Department and faces possible charges over its past use of paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups.
The civil rights group made the announcement on Tuesday, saying President Donald Trump’s administration appears to be preparing legal action against it or some of its employees.
“Although we don’t know all the details, the focus appears to be on the SPLC’s prior use of paid confidential informants to gather credible intelligence on extremely violent groups,” CEO Bryan Fair said in a statement.
The Justice Department had no immediate comment.
The Southern Poverty Law Center previously paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups and gather information on their activities, often sharing it with local and federal law enforcement, Fair said. It was used to monitor threats of violence, he said, adding that the program was kept quiet to protect the safety of informants.
“When we began working with informants, we were living in the shadow of the height of the Civil Rights Movement, which had seen bombings at churches, state-sponsored violence against demonstrators, and the murders of activists that went unanswered by the justice system,” Fair said. “There is no question that what we learned from informants saved lives.”
How SPLC’s $520,000-per-year CEO helped turn civil rights group into a ‘partisan smear machine’
The ex-boss of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Margaret Huang, helped oversee the nonprofit’s shift from a respected civil rights group — into an alleged “partisan smear machine.”
The Justice Department indicted the group on Tuesday, alleging it paid millions to members of hate groups to work as informants and “stoke racial hatred.”
Huang, whose compensation totaled $522,000 in 2023, took over as President and CEO in 2020 after the group’s co-founder, Morris Seligman Dees Jr., was axed following accusations of sexual harassment and being “complicit” in racial discrimination among the staff.
Huang’s tenure saw the SPLC take a much more partisan tone, accusing conservative and religious groups like the Alliance Defending Freedom, Moms for Liberty, and the Family Research Council of fomenting “hate” or “extremism.”

Another one of those manufactured investigations came in 2021 when the FBI covertly obtained phone toll records of several GOP members of Congress.
The preliminary investigation dubbed “Operation Rampart Twelve” was initiated on January 22, 2021 by the FBI based on rumors from Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s Facebook live that Republican representatives such as Lauren Boebert and Paul Gosar led so-called “reconnaissance” tours in advance of the January 6 Capitol chaos. As Federalist White House Correspondent Breccan Thies explained, “the corporate media trumpeted Sherrill’s allegations at the time, and she led a group of more than 30 House Democrats in sending a letter to the House and Senate sergeants-at-arms demanding information about Jan. 5 visitors.”
ActBlue employees took the Fifth in House depositions 146 times in probe on alleged donor fraud
ActBlue employees invoked their Fifth Amendment right at least 146 times in depositions with congressional committees investigating alleged donor fraud on the fundraising platform, according to an explosive report released Monday.
Two ActBlue officials, one of whom formerly served as VP of customer service, and three of its former lawyers “declined to answer a single one of the Committees’ substantive questions,” stated the interim staff report from the House Administration, Oversight and Judiciary Committees.
“Their unwillingness to testify only amplifies the Committees’ concerns,” the report added of the depositions between July and December 2025, also citing ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Wells’ seemingly “false statements to Congress” and withholding of documents pursuant to a subpoena for records.
ActBlue has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and in a recent statement through a spokesperson maintained that it has “always been forthcoming with Congress.”
Texas AG Ken Paxton sues ActBlue over alleged ‘rampant donor fraud’ on major Dem donation platform
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued ActBlue on Monday, alleging “rampant donor fraud” on the fundraising platform that’s helped funnel more than $16 billion to Democratic campaigns and causes.
The lawsuit, filed in Tarrant County Court, points to a bombshell New York Times report on ActBlue that led Republican committee chairmen to claim the platform provided misleading statements about its fraud vetting.
ActBlue accepted contributions from users without demanding a Card Verification Value for credit, debit or prepaid gift cards before January 2024 that allowed “foreign nationals and other ineligible persons to make unlawful contributions to federal and state candidates, ActBlue went back to accepting them,” the 30-page filing stated.
Attorneys at the platform’s firm Covington & Burling also informed ActBlue officials in early 2025 that it could be “alleged that ActBlue accepted and/or facilitated the acceptance of foreign national contributions into American elections” based on other lax vetting standards, The Times reported.
The ‘Most Secure Election in History’ Was a Lie, and Now We Have Proof
Before a single ballot was cast in the 2020 presidential election, America’s top intelligence analysts had already concluded that foreign adversaries could compromise U.S. election systems — and officials buried that warning rather than let voters see it.
A newly declassified National Intelligence Council memo, dated Jan. 15, 2020, assessed that ”US adversaries, including, at a minimum, Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, as well as non-state groups, have the capability to compromise US election infrastructure for the 2020 presidential election.”
The memo, which was obtained by Just the News, added, “Adversaries gaining access to US election-related systems could disrupt the voting process, steal sensitive data, or undermine confidence in the election results, but we do not know whether any of them have specific plans to manipulate election-related systems.”
The National Intelligence Council’s (NIC) concerns were so extensive that officials personally briefed President Donald Trump at the White House in February 2020, according to photos obtained by Just the News showing top CIA, FBI and Homeland Security officials joining with NIC analysts to inform the president.
But the American public was never fully alerted, even after evidence emerged that China had gained access to voter registration data in multiple states and had even sent fake driver’s licenses to the United States in a bid to help Joe Biden win the election, officials said.
Declassified National Intelligence Memorandum Shows US Adversaries Had Capability to Compromise US Election Infrastructure and Much More
A newly declassified National Intelligence Council (NIC) memo titled “Vulnerabilities in U.S. 2020 Election Infrastructure” from January 15, 2020, was published by Just The News. The memo was declassified by the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, on March 16, 2026.
The concerns raised by the NIC were enough to warrant officials briefing President Trump in February 2020, a month after the report was released, according to reporting from Just the News.
The “Key Takeaway” from the memo states, “We assess that at least Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea have the capability to access and potentially manipulate data in U.S. election-related computer systems,” while acknowledging they were not aware of any “specific plans” to do so.
The report also acknowledges “nonstate groups” as having the capability to gain access to the critical infrastructure.
Chris Krebs, who was the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the time, infamously testified before Congress on November 12, 2020, that the 2020 election was “the most secure in American history”. This was a joint statement from the Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council (GCC) and the Sector Coordinating Council (SCC).
The GCC is made of key representatives of federal agencies and local election officials, but also includes non-governmental organizations such as the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED).
Justice Clarence Thomas: Progressivism, Declaration of Independence Cannot ‘Coexist Forever’
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas used a speech at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law on Thursday to contend that progressivism has increasingly conflicted with the principles of the Declaration of Independence, telling students that the movement cannot permanently coexist with the founding ideals of natural rights and limited government.
Thomas, 77, was speaking at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The justice, who was appointed by Republican President George H.W. Bush in 1991, is the longest-serving current member of the Supreme Court and the second-longest-serving justice in the Court’s history.
During the address, Thomas traced the rise of progressivism in the American mainstream to the beginning of the 20th century and identified President Woodrow Wilson as its most prominent advocate.
Thomas said progressivism had “made many inroads into our system of government and our way of life” since Wilson’s presidency and asserted that it stood in opposition to the Declaration.
“It has coexisted uneasily with the principles of the Declaration because it is opposed to those principles,” Thomas stated. “It is not possible for the two to coexist forever.”
China’s silent war: How Beijing armed, funded, and enabled Iran
China is a central actor in the war with Iran, though it remains largely unnamed in Washington’s public debate. Without Beijing’s money, oil purchases, sanctions‑busting networks, and satellite support, the Iranian regime would not be able to fight.

Iran used the proceeds to support the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); Hezbollah’s arsenal in Lebanon; Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria; and the Houthi campaign in the Red Sea.
Beijing has not limited itself to purchasing the oil. It has helped build a maritime and financial architecture designed to blunt the force of American sanctions.
New Documents Reveal Democrats’ Plot To Frame Trump With Ukraine Call
There was never a genuine complaint. It wasn’t an opportunistic hit job either. It was something far more deliberate, a coordinated effort.
After seven long years, key documents surrounding the Ukraine impeachment saga have finally been released by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, following Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s declassification. They include previously unreleased interview transcripts with the Inspector General as well as related materials. They tell a story many of us suspected at the time, but which now appears even more disturbing and more elaborate than originally understood.
The newly released documents show a coordinated effort to frame President Trump over a phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky. A manufactured narrative was elevated and then used by Congress in an attempt to overturn the outcome of an election and, effectively, shape the next one by pursuing impeachment over a routine diplomatic exchange.
Inspector General Michael Atkinson, who should have acted as a neutral gatekeeper, instead enabled the process by allowing a completely unverified, third-hand, and politically motivated complaint to move forward.
Of particular note is the timing. The call took place on July 25, 2019, the morning after the disastrous congressional testimony of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which effectively collapsed the Russia collusion narrative. Many suspected at the time that this timing was not coincidental. It was as if one hoax had collapsed and another was needed to take its place. The new material strengthens that view.
Putin’s Real Fear Isn’t NATO—It’s Demobilization
Pressure on Russia’s structural weaknesses could help Ukraine and force Russia to the negotiating table.
Calls for negotiations to end Russia’s war in Ukraine are growing louder. But much of the debate in Western capitals still misunderstands what Moscow fears most. The Kremlin is not primarily afraid of NATO enlargement, nor of where to draw a new demarcation line. President Vladimir Putin is afraid of Russians. Peace for Russia will mean domestic instability. This explains Russia’s unwillingness to take ongoing negotiations seriously.
This is why talk of ending the war through Ukrainian concessions is misplaced (though Ukraine has agreed to concessions, while Russia has not during negotiations thus far). This is Russia’s war to end, not Ukraine’s. Proposals that pressure Kyiv to surrender territory misunderstand the core problem: Putin’s fear of what happens when the war stops. The Euro-Atlantic community must accentuate that fear, pressuring Russia. Putin cannot easily stop this war because stopping it would expose the deepest structural weakness of his regime: Russia’s inability to demobilize without destabilizing itself.
For Putin, perpetual war has become less a choice than a mechanism of survival. This is not new. American diplomat George Kennan warned in 1946 that Moscow sought security not through compromise, but through “patient but deadly struggle,” driven by a chronic sense of insecurity.
Russia’s long-silent opposition is starting to show signs of life

Vladimir Putin claims not to use a smartphone and regards the internet as an invention of the CIA. While his government uses social media for its own ends, he has tended to portray himself as aloof from its fads and fashions.
Nonetheless, on Thursday the Kremlin was forced to give an unprecedented response to critical comments from Victoria Bonya, a celebrity influencer, after a video appeal to Putin in which she said “there is a big wall between you and the people” was watched more than 20 million times.
The reply, that work was being done to address the problems she raised, was underwhelming. The fact that the Kremlin felt obliged to reply to a socialite expat, though, is a sign of an administration feeling under pressure.
Russia’s Gray Zone War Against NATO
It’s a battlefield so cold that even Marvel’s Captain America might find himself looking around for a space heater, but that doesn’t mean the fight isn’t warming up.
The Kremlin has been waging an increasingly aggressive gray-zone campaign against NATO countries in or near the Arctic since approximately 2014. It’s a campaign that has largely slipped under the radar. These subversive and malign operations aim to sow division in Europe, degrade NATO’s intelligence and response capabilities, and generate chaos and fear. Recent actions by the United Kingdom and Norway signal that the Alliance is no longer looking the other way; however, without coordinated investment in Arctic-specific capabilities and deeper operational collaboration, NATO efforts to blunt Russian malicious activities risk falling short.
Russian naval vessels have been mapping the seabed throughout the High North and Atlantic to support efforts to target allied subsea fiber optic cables, the UK’s Ministry of Defense revealed last week. Over the past month, the UK and other NATO militaries have tracked loitering vessels from Russia’s Main Directorate of Deep Sea Research, a highly secretive unit within the Russian Armed Forces that reports directly to the president and defense minister. It specializes in subsea surveillance, sabotage, and reconnaissance.
Undersea sabotage is a central component of Russia’s gray-zone war. The degradation, destruction, or infiltration of subsea cables and pipelines would carry severe military and economic consequences for allied nations. The UK, for example, is heavily dependent upon subsea infrastructure: over 90 percent of daily network traffic and roughly half of the gas used to heat homes flows through underwater cables and pipelines. Russian targeting of British subsea networks is not only a national concern for 10 Downing Street, but a strategic vulnerability for all of NATO. As a leading economic, military, and intelligence hub, disruption to UK critical infrastructure would reverberate across the Alliance.
Moscow’s gray-zone operations in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans and surrounding areas are hardly new, but they have intensified since 2014. Russia reopened Soviet-era bases, reinvested in Arctic-capable platforms, and expanded its operational footprint across the region. Russia routinely interferes with GPS across the High North and Baltics, disrupting military communications, civilian aviation, and emergency services. It also conducts military exercises within NATO countries’ Exclusive Economic Zones and has simulated attacks on regional targets, including a 2018 mock attack on a Norwegian radar facility.
The US can’t break China’s critical minerals dominance by itself

Angola’s experience informs the broader global competition for the world’s “new oil” — the critical minerals that power our everyday life, from smartphones and laptops to satellites and defense systems.
