Obamalaise Grows Worse: GDP Shows Economy Teetering on Recession

Jim Martin, “If President Obama ran our economy as well as he runs a negative and dishonest campaign, this would be the greatest economy in history.”

(Chicago, Illinois) – 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s largest conservative seniors organization with over 7.2 million senior supporters, cited new economic figures that point to a worsening of the economy, including downward revisions of last quarter’s GDP to 1.25% growth, a severe drop in orders for durable goods, and census data showing on average Americans have lost over $3,000 in yearly wages.

“The President’s leadership has been a complete and total failure on all fronts.  More Americans are out of work, and those with work are earning far less than when he took office.  He has called the shots in Washington for four years with trillion dollar deficits that have the Chinese smiling from ear to ear, but Americans taking it on the chin.”

Martin made the comments while traveling through Illinois as part of 60 Plus’s national “Let’s Do Healthcare Right” bus tour, that is rallying thousands of seniors and their families to take action and demand Washington repeal Obamacare and pass real healthcare reform.

“This economy is still stuck in a malaise that makes the Jimmy Carter years look like the good old days.  It’s an Obamalaise, an enormous  weakening of the American economy and the financial future of our families that is a creation of him and him alone.  While he arrogantly parrots his teleprompter telling us things are getting better, most Americans are still stuck in a financial sinkhole.

“As 60 Plus travels the country in our bus tour we’ve talked to thousands of hard-working people and retirees on fixed incomes who know our economy and our future economic outlook are much, much worse.  He can’t take responsibility for his own disastrous policies, because that would require telling the American people the truth.

“Obama is robbing families and seniors of their money, their security, and their future.  Four more years of the same will only bring more of the same.  We need policies that will build our economy and create jobs, but this President has proven he is incapable of making things better, and unwilling to acknowledge the reality that his agenda of bigger government and more taxes are brutalizing working Americans and seniors.”
