Seniors (but not AARP) Applaud Supreme Court Decision to Hear ObamaCare

“Bureaucrats and politicians in the doctor’s office means only one thing — bad medicine.”

(Alexandria, Virginia) – 60 Plus Association Chairman Jim Martin, leader of the largest conservative seniors advocacy group in the nation, today reacted to a decision by the United States Supreme Court to hear arguments on the constitutionality of President Obama’s signature legislation on health care.  Currently 26 state attorney generals have signed on to the lawsuit challenging the individual mandate component of the legislation.

“Since the moment ObamaCare was passed, there has been a black cloud looming over the lives of every senior in America.  The politicians — including their friends at the AARP — who made us swallow this poison pill not only cut $500 billion from the Medicare safety net that seniors have paid into for decades of their working lives, but the legislation itself guarantees cuts in service, lower quality, slower delivery, and rationing.  In every measurable way, this is just bad medicine, plain and simple.”

“America has taken to fixing this horrendous act ourselves, first by firing over 60 members of Congress who prescribed this awful legislation as a solution to our health care issues.  Now we need the highest court in the land to confirm what thousands of legal scholars and 26 state attorney generals have been saying from the get-go — that Washington does not have total control over our lives, and is legally not authorized to force us to purchase a product under penalty of law.

“We look forward to the Supreme Court’s ruling on this legislation this summer, and nearly every senior in the U.S. will hope and pray the Court applies the law and returns health care decisions back to their proper place — between doctor and patient, and once and for all kicks government bureaucrats and politicians out of the examining room.”
