“This is direct criminal interference designed to fraudulently lead voters in Alaska to not select the right candidate… This behavior by Peltola’s campaign and the Democrat Senate campaign committee is criminal.”

-Clay Travis, Legal Analyst

Michigan could save the Senate for Republicans

We are in the fog of war. Polls favor Democrats, who could capture both the House of Representatives and Senate. If Republicans lose Senate seats in Kansas, Iowa, and Texas, a bad night could become a rout.

Republicans insist the picture is less bleak than polling averages suggest. They point to questionable turnout models and surveys that underestimate their candidates. In Michigan, skepticism is justified because some polls were exposed as fabrications. Of course, that does not make unfavorable legitimate polls disappear.

Everything rests on turnout. Republicans must overcome historic midterm trends and President Donald Trump’s undeniably poor approval ratings. If they turn out their voters, the blue wave may fall short.

There is no better example than Michigan and the contest between Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul el Sayed to succeed retiring Democratic Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI).

Rogers is within striking distance in what the Republican National Committee chairman called “the battleground” of the battleground states.

Angry about inflation? Democrats want to pour gas on the fire.

Voters are mad as hell about high gas prices and inflation. So, will electing Democrats solve the problem, or make it worse? The last time they held power, Democrats waged war on fossil fuels and unleashed the worst inflation in four decades. Electing them to tackle affordability would be like making a pyromaniac fire marshal.

If Democrats cared about high gas prices, they would support a major push to increase domestic production. But during Joe Biden’s four years as president, Democrats prioritized fighting climate change over reducing gas prices. In 2019, Biden campaigned on a promise to tax and regulate the fossil fuel industry out of existence, declaring, “I guarantee you we’re going to end fossil fuel.” Banks and investment firms responded by pulling back investment in oil and gas. The New York Times reported in the fall of 2021 that the “flow of capital from Wall Street has slowed to a trickle after a decade in which investors poured over $1.4 trillion into North American oil and gas producers through stock and bond issues and loans” as woke capitalists pared “their exposure to fossil fuels to meet the commitments they have made to fight climate change.”

While President Donald Trump opened 100 million acres of public land and water to oil and gas exploration in his first term, Biden approved about 92 percent fewer onshore federal acres for exploration, and withdrew more than 625 million acres of federal waters from future drilling. Trump opened the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to exploration, but Biden canceled all remaining ANWR leases, along with the Keystone XL pipeline between the United States and Canada. After being forced by a federal judge to end his moratorium on new leases, Biden and the Democrats raised the royalty rate on those leases and imposed $18 billion in punitive taxes on the oil and gas industry.

What The Midterm Senate Polls Won’t Tell You (And Where They Might Be Wrong)

Polling this midterm election has been especially unreliable, but looking at past polling results might be useful for understanding what could happen.

With the midterm election fast approaching, there’s a great deal of speculation about the accuracy of the polls. Democrats are generally hoping that the polling is right, as it suggests they are poised to take control not only of the House of Representatives but probably also the Senate. Correspondingly, Republicans are hoping the polls are wrong. They speculate that conservatives are more distrusting of pollsters and therefore less apt to respond to their inquiries, and that the polls aren’t adequately adjusting for this.

There is no way to know for sure whose hopes are more realistic. At the same time, we aren’t flying completely blind. We now have a track record of Senate polling across five prior federal elections in the Donald Trump era. If we assume that polls will perform as they have typically performed on a state-by-state basis throughout this era, what would that mean for this election?

Republicans Should Aggressively Attack Democrats Over Medicare for All

Democrats who favor Medicare for All have given Republicans a huge opportunity.

Far from hiding from the healthcare debate, Republicans should be piling on and forcing Democrats to defend their crazy idea of a Washington-run national healthcare system. Republicans should also offer a positive alternative.

There are three major reasons to reject Medicare for All.

First, Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All bill could force American taxpayers to pay for healthcare for illegal immigrants. The bill makes residency, not citizenship, the basis for coverage and contains no explicit exclusion for people here illegally. Sanders himself has said they would be covered.

An April 2025 poll by America’s New Majority Project found that 62 percent of voters opposed states using taxpayer money to provide Medicaid benefits for illegal immigrants, with 43 percent strongly opposed. Another 62 percent favored a federal law prohibiting it. Three out of four Americans supported stronger identity verification for Medicaid applicants, compared with just 18 percent opposed.

The questions were about Medicaid, not Medicare for All, but they reveal strong opposition to taxpayer-funded coverage for illegal immigrants.

Socialism Will Ruin the Economy, Stupid

As we enter the final stretch of the 2026 midterm campaign season, polls show that James Carville’s 1992 campaign synopsis — it’s the economy, stupid — applies more than ever.

More than 80 percent of registered voters, including 82 percent of Republicans and 88 percent of Democrats, said “the economy” will be their “top voting issue” on November 3, based on a recent Pew Survey.

These days, when voters say the economy, they mostly mean the rising price of essentials like housing, groceries, gasoline, healthcare, and more.

In 1992, on the other hand, when Carville was advising Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign, the U.S. economy suffered primarily from macroeconomic issues like sluggish growth and lower-than-expected consumer spending, as the Federal Reserve noted at the time.

Inflation was not a top concern in 1992, and the Fed predicted it would “remain low over the next two years.”

Today, voters are far less concerned with abstract concepts like slow economic growth than they are with the very real and very scary affordability crisis.

58% Of Americans Get Their News From Four Left-Leaning Aggregators

A new study from a conservative media watchdog group has found that nearly 60 percent of Americans get their news from at least one of the Big Four news aggregators: Apple News, Google News, Yahoo News and Microsoft’s MSN.

Just the News reports that, according to MRC’s tracking and research data, these four applications sit on nearly every smartphone in America and serve as a dominant news window for an estimated 58 percent of Americans.

According to the MRC’s special report, released earlier this month, all four aggregators exhibit a heavy left-wing bias by overwhelmingly surfacing mainstream and left-leaning publications while filtering out conservative outlets.

Hinson calls Putin ‘murderer,’ says US should not make deals with Russia

Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) on Sunday called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “murderer” and urged that the U.S. not make any deals with Russia.

ABC News’s “This Week” host Jonathan Karl asked Hinson, a Senate candidate and a staunch supporter of Ukraine, what she made of U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff’s remark to Putin last week calling the Russian leader a “humanitarian.”

“He’s not a humanitarian, he is a murderer,” she said. “I don’t think we should be making deals with murderers and dictators, and that’s why I stood up for Ukraine. I think that Ukraine is a freedom-loving country … We should not be allowing a dictator to win.”

Hinson said she traveled to Ukraine to meet with its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and called the country’s people “incredibly resilient.” She reiterated that the U.S. should not make deals with Russia, saying she voted for a sanctions package targeting Russia. President Trump waived sanctions on Russia weeks later.

“And, frankly, I’ve been banned from going [to Russia], so I think that sends a very clear message about my approach to Russia,” Hinson continued. “Again, I want to bring all these conflicts abroad to an end as quickly as possible. I don’t think anybody likes forever wars, but certainly we cannot be empowering dictators to win more.”

Putin’s Three-Step Playbook to Manipulate Trump’s White House

October has been a great month for Vladimir Putin.

The Russian president struck a lucrative diesel deal with President Donald Trump and secured a limited relaxation of U.S. sanctions, all while restrictions on Elon Musk’s Starlink and Starshield satellite communications temporarily hobbled some of Ukraine’s most effective drone strike operations. He even had time to celebrate his birthday.

But his diplomatic gains haven’t come from nowhere; the Kremlin has been pursuing a strategy so calculated it could have been lifted from a manual entitled How to Train Your Trump.

That Moscow is working overtime to influence the White House should come as no surprise. In July, spokesman Dmitry Peskov openly stated that Russia must exploit the “dualism” of a U.S. administration that simultaneously arms Ukraine but ultimately seeks peace. The efficacy of its strategy, however, should be a serious cause for concern.

Putin’s playbook for getting what he wants from the White House can be boiled down to three simple steps.

Speaker Mike Johnson’s Amazing First Three Years

Mike Johnson and his family recently celebrated his first three years as Speaker of the House.

Mike Johnson and his family recently celebrated his first three years as Speaker of the House.

I was startled when I realized it was the third anniversary of his election. It seemed like it was just yesterday that he came out of nowhere to lead the House GOP.

Speaker Johnson’s emergence as a national leader seemed wildly improbable at the time. He was a relative backbencher with only six-and-a-half years of service in the House. The highest rank in leadership he had attained was vice chairman of the House Republican Conference.

His predecessor, Kevin McCarthy, had taken a longer road. He was active as a Young Republican and then worked for Congressman Bill Thomas, who became Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee after a career as a professor of political science and a member of the California Assembly. Thomas was remarkably competent and knowledgeable — and a great mentor.
