What Michigan & New York City Have in Common… Socialist Radicals

August 9, 2026

Socialism is a political religion whose God is the State and whose priests are the bureaucrats… It is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal distribution of misery.

– Winston Churchill

Never in history has there been a more effective tool for lifting millions of people out of poverty than free enterprise and the free market.

– Milton Friedman

We in America have NO INTEREST in being polite and orderly caretakers of the West’s managed decline!” – Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State

Don’t Mamdani Michigan: With Abdul El-Sayed’s primary victory in Michigan, some Michigan voters, progressive Democrats, want to have El-Sayed do for Michigan what Mamdani has done for New York City.

They both support a radical view of open borders and immigration. They both support the DSA (socialist) agenda. They both preach Islam in their campaigns. They both want to defund the police and prisons. Both have Hasan Piker on their team… need we say more?

And now they BOTH want to be U.S. Senators?!?

To be clear, I could vote for an Abdul or a Mohamed, but NOT for these radical socialists who are desperately trying to mainstream their previous statements and actions.

Be careful what you vote for… listen to what they have said… not their campaign rhetoric of today.

Russia’s War Against Ukraine – Can Trump Help Stop It?: The simple answer is yes. Tell Putin to stop or else the United States will join others who signed the Budapest Agreement and abide by its term… defending the integrity of Ukraine, its borders, and its country.

If Russia stopped fighting, the war is over. We have peace in Eastern Europe.

If Ukraine stopped fighting, Ukraine is over, it will NOT exist.

Putin’s Russia is the aggressor.

Putin’s Russia is committing war crimes daily.

Putin’s Russia could end this war tomorrow… just stop fighting, return to Russia, and leave your neighbors alone.

NOT one of Russia’s neighbors has military ambitions against Russia, except maybe China.

NATO is NOT a threat. The EU is NOT a threat. None of Russia’s neighbors are a threat, except their closest ally, who is playing them as a useful idiot.

President Trump is the ONLY world leader that could end this war… fast. He is the ONLY world leader who’s capable of telling Putin to STOP! Well again, China’s Xi could… but for now it’s in his interest to have the West waste money, use up military equipment, and cause strife around the world. Short-sighted, but Xi’s apparent strategy.

Illegal Immigration: When one looks at the negative effects illegal immigration has had in the United State and Europe, one must wonder if this is not a tool of our enemies to destabilize the West.

Russia and China have funded anti-American activities for decades. Radical leftists who want to destroy our way of life have found this to be a strategy to destabilize and divide our countries.

We are long past “families” escaping poverty. The overwhelming majority of what we see today are able-bodied men that could just as easily be soldiers of fortune/religion as want-a-be doctors.

Let’s not let our good nature and generosity create a situation where we destroy our country and culture from within… because of our benevolent naivete.

Socialist victories show Dems’ descent down ‘deadly path of communism,’ Johnson warns

Republicans are hoping for more far-left socialist victories in Democratic primaries as they fight to keep the House

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is arguing that Democrats are descending a dark path as a socialist insurgency on the left continues to notch victories against the party’s establishment.

Republicans on the campaign trail have seized on the raging civil war within the Democratic Party, warning that a recent slate of wins by candidates linked to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is pushing one of the United States’ two main political parties much further left than the vast majority of Americans are comfortable with.

“Right now, it’s a contrast election for everybody,” Johnson said during a campaign stop in Arizona. “They’ve got to make a decision that they want to continue with common sense, growth and opportunity, or they want to go to this dark down, dangerous, deadly road of communism.”

He said it was a choice “between common sense and crazy.”

Johnson and other House GOP leaders are crisscrossing the country visiting districts represented by vulnerable Republican lawmakers and other areas where the GOP believes it has a shot of winning in November.

Trump orders limits on birthright citizenship, targets ‘birth tourism’

President Trump on Thursday signed two executive orders again aimed at restricting birthright citizenship, an apparent attempt to circumvent a recent Supreme Court ruling that upheld the constitutional protection.

In late June, the Supreme Court struck down Trump’s Day 1 executive order that sought to end automatic birthright citizenship for nearly all children born on U.S. soil, holding it violated the 14th Amendment.

“We had a very unfortunate decision in the Supreme Court concerning birthright,” Trump said in the Oval Office. “It was close, but a very, very unfortunate decision. So we’re making adjustments because it’s very unfair.”

One of the president’s orders expands the definition of who would be ineligible for automatic citizenship, including “alien enemies of the United States, members of foreign terrorist organizations” as well as the children of diplomats and other recognized international organizations.

Courts have historically recognized four exceptions to the Citizenship Clause: children born in the U.S. to foreign sovereigns and diplomats now referenced in the executive order as well as children of foreign forces during a hostile occupation; children born on foreign public ships and children of Native Americans tribes.

Gen Z Must Not Take Liberty for Granted

On the last day of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, a lady asked Benjamin Franklin what type of government was created—a republic or a monarchy. He , “A republic,” but only “if you can keep it.”

The founding fathers enshrined the natural law and natural rights philosophy of the Declaration of Independence into a timeless national charter upholding freedom, which today remains the world’s —surviving a civil war, two world wars, an economic depression, and various turbulent eras of populism and civil unrest. The United States may never have fully embodied the cherished ideals of its founding throughout its 250-year history, but to the posthumous satisfaction of Franklin and his contemporaries, We the People have kept our republic. Generations of Americans have inherited the blessings of liberty from our forebears and faithfully improved upon their civic enterprise.

However, Gen Z, coming of age in a divided America struggling with the rising cost of living, a hollowed-out civil society, and , is eager for systemic change. From the Mamdani Left to the Groyper Right, a growing number of young Americans have an appetite for collectivism and would dispense with foundational American principles such as the rule of law and economic freedom to advance their ideological vision. But as the United States contemplates its next quarter millennium, Gen Z must not take for granted the self-evident truths of our nation’s founding, lest we forfeit the rights, liberties, and opportunities we enjoy and exercise daily.

How a Homeless Shelter Drove Me Away from the Far Left

One man’s story of being “mugged by reality” in Los Angeles.

In 2021, I hit a breaking point. I was tired of working sales jobs, chasing money, and feeling that none of it mattered. I wanted to do something genuinely good, something difficult that I thought might actually help people. I found what I thought was my answer through a temp agency listing for a night-shift position at a downtown Los Angeles homeless shelter. The pay was $16 an hour, and the listing said, “urgently hiring.” I was an adult with a pulse willing to do the job for that wage, so I was hired.

Politically, I was ready for it. I had recently paid $40 to hear Bernie Sanders speak in Glendale and bought his book It’s OK to Be Angry About Capitalism. I believed that the suffering on Los Angeles streets was the inevitable result of corporate greed. A society wealthy enough to produce billionaires, yet willing to tolerate Skid Row five miles away, seemed morally bankrupt. Tax the rich, redistribute the money, and everyone could live with dignity—it seemed obvious.

Shortly before I had begun my new position, I attended a Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) meeting. The politics were more extreme than mine, but the people seemed compassionate. After the meeting, I found the host standing beside his bicycle lock, which had been cut in half. His bike was gone. I offered him a ride home and he accepted.

The Hard Truth About the Sanctuary Movement

On July 1, 2015, 32-year-old Kathryn “Kate” Steinle was killed while sightseeing in San Francisco with her father and a family friend. According to federal prosecutors, Steinle was walking on Pier 14, a popular tourist attraction in San Francisco’s Embarcadero area, when she was shot in the back by Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate, an illegal immigrant from Mexico with a lengthy criminal record.

It wasn’t Garcia-Zarate’s first illegal trip into the U.S. Federal immigration records show that he had been deported six times prior to Steinle’s killing: in 1994, 1997, twice in 1998, 2006, and 2009. And he had been arrested by San Francisco police in March 2015, four months before the murder, for an outstanding drug possession warrant.

Following his arrest, U.S. immigration officials lodged an immigration detainer on Garcia-Zarate—in other words, they requested that the police hold him for an additional 48 hours to allow them time to assume custody and deport him. Instead, San Francisco’s prosecutor, George Gascón, dropped the drug charges and the San Francisco police, as a matter of policy, disregarded the federal immigration detainer and released Garcia-Zarate on April 15. Less than three months later, Kate Steinle was dead.

Although it seems impossible, the story gets worse. Garcia-Zarate claimed that he had accidentally picked up and fired the pistol that killed Steinle, and a San Francisco jury found him innocent of murder. He was convicted on a minor charge of illegal possession of a firearm, but not even that held up. In 2019, a California appeals court tossed the conviction on the grounds that if Garcia-Zarate had only held the gun for a little while—even if it was just barely long enough to shoot and kill an innocent woman—the jury should have been given the option to acquit him on the grounds that he didn’t technically possess it. In the end, Garcia-Zarate was simply deported in 2024—three decades after his first of seven illegal incursions into the U.S. and nearly nine years after he killed Kate Steinle.

America’s Cosmic Bet on AI

The winner takes it all. What happens if the United States loses?

The United States is betting the house on winning the artificial intelligence race with China.

Consider the U.S. economy, which is increasingly becoming a highly leveraged bet on the promise of this new technology. AI is the primary driver of investments, stock market gains, and growth in the United States. As The Wall Street Journal recently noted, AI-related investment is driving most of the growth in U.S. GDP. Spending on AI data centers accounts for half of all business investment in the country. AI companies made up more than 40 percent of the value of U.S. equity markets before SpaceX went public in June. If OpenAI and Anthropic follow suit later this summer with expected trillion-dollar-plus IPOs, AI companies will account for more than half of the value of the stock market. Indeed, of all the S&P 500’s gains in 2026, 85 percent have come from AI companies.

Or consider the growing national security-AI industrial complex. The U.S. government is becoming a major customer of leading AI companies, deepening entanglements with the Defense Department, CIA, National Security Agency, and others. An odd alliance that includes U.S. President Donald Trump, socialist independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is seeking ways for the U.S. government to become a major stakeholder of these companies.

Politico Said Noncitizen Voting Was ‘Overblown.’ Now It Admits The Entire System Runs On Honor

Politico has spent months telling Americans that Republican concerns about noncitizens in our elections were exaggerated. Yet now that New Jersey admitted more than 6,000 noncitizens ended up on its voter rolls (about 400 of whom voted) — Politico has discovered the problem was apparently an “open secret” all along.

New Jersey Democrat Gov. Mikie Sherrill recently announced that a “software error” in the state’s motor vehicle system “led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024.” The noncitizens allegedly answered “no” when asked whether they were citizens, but the system registered them anyway. Of those registered, nearly 400 illegally cast a ballot, the governor’s office said.

Now that the reality of noncitizens both registering to vote and voting is too difficult for the corporate media to ignore, they have to cover it. Politico’s Matt Friedman reports that the announcement “exposed an open secret about New Jersey’s so-called motor voter law that officials and political operatives have known for years: There’s little to stop noncitizens from registering to vote if they want to, or even by mistake.”

Fifth Amendment Fauci’s Narcissism Destroyed Faith in Scientific Methodology

Congress may be investigating COVID, but the deeper scandal is how one bureaucrat reshaped science into dogma.

If you believe in karma or that chickens always come home to roost, you have to explain why Mao and Stalin died in bed, and Hitler was able to choose his own way out. But watching Anthony Fauci on the witness stand before Congress taking the Fifth as fast as his lips could flap (more than 100 times), you could see some evidence that at least some hens become broiler chickens. ExecutiveBranch

There he sat — the undisputed grand vizier of American public health — hedging his answers and reciting the familiar line about “following the science.” To the uninitiated observer, perhaps it looked like the noble defense of an overworked public servant unfairly hounded by partisan inquisitors. To anyone who has tracked his career since the 1980s, it looked like something else entirely: another verse in a long song of dodge, delay, and quiet goalpost-moving in furtherance of a career fueled by narcissism so extreme it should have its own place on the Periodic Table.

Senate committee votes to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress

Sen. Paul said Fauci couldn’t plead the Fifth because of his preemptive pardon.

Republicans on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Thursday voted to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress.

The committee’s party-line vote of 8-5 came after Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination and declined to answer questions at a hearing last week about his role in handling the COVID-19 pandemic and its origins.

A contempt resolution would normally now head to the full Senate, where it would require 60 votes. It is unlikely the Fauci resolution would receive enough support in the full Senate to pass.

But committee chairman Sen. Rand Paul told reporters he is opting instead to immediately send it to the Department of Justice in the hopes they’ll take action.

A Justice Department spokesperson told ABC News in a statement “We have received the document, we are reviewing it and will work with the Senate accordingly.”

Florida’s DOGE Is Delivering- A playbook for all the states

On July 14, the State Leadership Initiative was honored to host the Florida DOGE team and their tech partners, Vulcan, Echelon, and DigiBuild, for the Florida DOGE Showcase in Washington, D.C. Spearheaded by Governor Ron DeSantis, the state has become the leader for providing accountable and efficient governance to its citizens.

Since its creation in 2025, the Florida DOGE team has identified nearly $1 billion in waste and abuse at the local government level and sent over $878 million back to the federal government. But the team’s work extends beyond fiscal savings and budgetary cuts—it also includes auditing university curriculum and state union programs and reining in rogue municipalities that had adopted woke-left policies.

Take Florida’s SB 1134, which banned counties and municipalities from using government funds for discriminatory DEI programs and activities. Florida DOGE found that local governments were forcing employees to undergo “Transgender Humility” training, which included the use of a “wheel of power/privilege” that singled out certain ethnic groups as being worse than others. In some extreme cases, the team found that local governments were directing taxpayer dollars to immigration lawyers who represented criminal illegal aliens. All of this was identified by Florida DOGE and prohibited by law.

This ideological audit was most prevalent in universities, where the team examined over 74,000 syllabi and 100,000 research articles for left-wing ideological content. Funding for these DEI-related activities was effectively halted through SB 266 and SB 7044. While the federal DOGE program failed to codify reform through legislation, Florida DOGE succeeded.

Op-EdsThe terrifying new blue-state strategy to bankrupt Christian ministries

There is a troubling pattern emerging of government officials in America’s bluest states punishing religious organizations and individuals for simply living their faith. Whether the target is Catholic nuns or preschools, Christian pregnancy centers or charities, the message is the same: Conform your beliefs to the state’s progressive ideology or prepare for years of investigations, lawsuits, and crippling legal costs.

California is currently offering perhaps the clearest example.

Today, most abortions in America are chemical abortions. Millions of women take abortion pills at home, most often alone and far from medical supervision. For some women, however, regret sets in after taking the first drug. Before the second drug is taken, doctors may be able to attempt what’s known as abortion pill reversal by administering progesterone. Thousands of children are alive today because their mothers found information about the treatment in time.

Faux independents expose hollow two-party system

Across much of the country, one of the two parties has simply stopped competing.

No party illustrates that reality more clearly this year than the Democrats.

The best examples are Senate races across the Great Plains and the West, where Democrats are dumping their own nominees for faux independents. It’s an extraordinary admission by the party of Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.

Not long ago, these weren’t foreign lands for Democrats.

South Dakota elected Tom Daschle to three Senate terms, elevating him to majority leader before Sen. John Thune (R-SD) ended his career in 2004. Today, Thune occupies the very leadership post Daschle once held.

Former Rep. Ruppe Was ‘One of the Good Guys in the Process’

It was sadly poignant that former Republican Rep. Philip Ruppe died at age 99 on the day before the nationally-watched U.S. Senate primary in his home state of Michigan.

Ruppe had been a player in two Senate contests following his 12 years (1967-79) in the House. But, because of some unexpected circumstances and bad timing, he never made it to the “upper House” of Congress…

…Former Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis may have put it best: “Phil was the quintessential moderate establishment Republican.

“He was a class act, soft spoken, hardworking public servant who engaged both constituents as well as activists from across the state. The soft spoken Ruppe is emblematic of a Republican Party long gone not only in Michigan, but nationally.

“Virtually everyone who knew Phil Ruppe would say he was one of the good guys in the process.”
