New Study Shows Serious Harm Awaits Seniors from EPA Rules

Typical household energy bills to increase by 35% in 2020 from 2012, devastating seniors living on fixed incomes.

(Alexandria, VA) – A new study released yesterday by Energy Ventures Analysis, Inc. (EVA) warns of deep increases in the price of electricity for consumers and manufacturers over the next few years due to the cumulative effect of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rules, including mercury and regional haze regulations and the proposed Clean Power Plan.

Just weeks before Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber was caught calling the American voters “stupid” and saying the law needed a “lack of transparency” in order to pass, 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin debated Gruber on NewsmaxTV’s Midpoint program.  Gruber calls the law a “success” while Martin predicts Obamacare will result in a Republican sweep at the polls in November, as Democrats abandon their Obamacare vote in droves.  Just a few weeks later, Gruber is in hiding, but in this video he’s front and center in one of his last media appearances, still spinning for Obamacare with lines that have since been exposed for the deliberate lies they are.

New study finds proposed EPA regulations could raise energy prices for Mississippi seniors

PEARL, MS – The 60 Plus Association and U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS) joined together to unveil a new report, “Rising Energy Costs Harm Mississippi Senior Citizens,” which finds proposed EPA regulations would disproportionately impact the state’s senior population. Regulations like the Clean Power Plan could raise prices by 7.5-11.5 percent, a detrimental increase as more than half of the state’s seniors have an annual gross income of less than $30,000.

New Orleans, LA – U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) joined the 60 Plus Association today to unveil a new report, “Energy Bills Strain Louisiana’s Seniors’ Budgets,” which finds proposed EPA regulations would disproportionately impact Louisiana’s senior population. These regulations could raise electricity prices by as much as 18 percent, a detrimental increase as nearly half of the state’s seniors have an annual gross income of less than $30,000.
