We all need to be held accountable, but politicians especially need to be reminded of the promises they made when they stood for election, and encouragement to keep them. Specifically, we at 60 Plus are committed to applying pressure when Members of Congress stray, and being among the loudest voices in praising those that stand up and fight for America’s seniors.
Yet, we’re only facilitating these activities. The real power, energy, and effectiveness on both the positive and not-so-positive sides of our activities come from seniors in communities around the nation while we help provide tools and resources to lift those individual voices up for consumption by a wider audience.
Building on our successful 2010 Fight to Hold Congress Accountable, we plan to continue to produce radio and television ads (many of them featuring our senior activists from around the country), aid and fund phone calls to Capitol Hill, publish newspaper ads, and mount aggressive online campaigns to maximize our resources in holding Congress accountable.
