Jim Martin: Once again Alison Grimes made it clear she stands with Obama, and against Kentucky seniors and farmers.
(Alexandria, VA) – Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Alison Grimes again affirmed her support of the federal estate or ‘death’ tax, in comments before the Kentucky Farm Bureau forum, held with her opponent, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R). This brought a response from 60 Plus Chairman and Kentucky native Jim Martin, leader of the nation’s pre-eminent organization fighting for federal death tax repeal. Said Martin:
“Alison Grimes is very good at pretending to share the concerns of average Kentucky farmers and family businesses, but when push comes to shove we see the real Alison Grimes, standing with Washington and with Obama to keep the outrageous, unfair and un-American death tax in place.
“Ms. Grimes, Kentucky farmers don’t want your empty promises of a lower death tax, or higher exemptions, or whatever other meager trinkets you offer them from Washington. Working Kentuckians want the death repealed, gone for good, taken out to the barn and shot. Just like Obama and Harry Reid, you campaign on caring about working families, but you cannot stop your addiction to bigger and bigger government, and all the taxing power that goes with it.
“Kentucky farmers, ranchers and family-owned businesses know there is only one candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky who has consistently fought for full and complete repeal of the death tax which makes it so hard to pass down the family farm or business to the next generation, and that is Senator Mitch McConnell.”
